Hi everyone, Dashrath Parmar here so few days ago i have visited pavagadh one of the best and historical place to visit in Gujarat. There is ancient temple of goddess Mahakali located on top of pavagadh hills.

🕍 How It All Began
A few days ago, we decided to take a quick trip to Pavagadh one of the most well-known spiritual spots in Gujarat. It had been a while since we all went somewhere together as a family, so this felt like the perfect plan. Pavagadh is famous for the Maa Mahakali Temple sitting right at the top of the hill, and it’s also part of the Champaner-Pavagadh UNESCO heritage site.
We wanted to keep things simple, spiritual, and spend some time together away from the daily routine. And honestly? It turned out better than expected.
🎐 Midnight Road Trip Vibes
We left Gandhinagar at 1 AM yes, 1 o’clock in the night! It was a bit wild, but also kind of exciting. The roads were quiet, the weather was cool, and that peaceful night-drive vibe hit different. It was just me, three of my family members, and our driver packed into the car with snacks, sleepy eyes, and some good music.
The drive took about five hours, with short tea breaks here and there. As the sun started to rise, we got our first glimpse of the Pavagadh hills and it felt like we were already somewhere magical.
✉️ Up We Go – The Ropeway Ride
Once we reached the base, the place was already getting busy. We knew we didn’t want to climb the whole way up not with tired legs and sleepy energy so we took the ropeway. Best decision ever.
The ride up was super smooth, and the view was stunning. You could see the hills, forests, and little houses scattered below all glowing in the soft morning light. Honestly, I’d take the ropeway again just for the view.
🙏 Darshan at Maa Mahakali Temple
At the top sits the powerful Maa Mahakali Temple, and even though we got there early, there were already quite a few people. The atmosphere was so peaceful bells ringing, people chanting, the smell of incense in the air. It felt really calming.
We waited in the darshan line for a while, and when we finally stood in front of the goddess, there was a real moment of stillness. No phones, no noise just quiet prayer. Even if you’re not super religious, it’s hard not to feel something up there.
🌳 Soaking in the Views (and the Peace)
After darshan, we hung around near the temple for a bit, soaking in the cool breeze and the views. Since we had taken the ropeway up, we took it again on the way down and got to enjoy the scenery one more time.
We didn’t explore the full Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park this time, but it’s definitely on the list for next time. There are some amazing places like the Jami Masjid, Saat Kaman, and old stepwells that I’d love to see more closely.
☕ Breakfast Break – Gujarati Style
By the time we got down, we were starving. Luckily, the base has plenty of local stalls. We grabbed some jalebi-fafda, khaman, and hot tea simple but so satisfying. There’s something about eating street food after a spiritual visit that just hits right.
💬 Wrapping It Up
This trip to Pavagadh was everything I didn’t know I needed peaceful, meaningful, and a nice change from the usual routine. The midnight start, the quiet roads, the ropeway ride, and the darshan all made it feel like a complete experience.
Sometimes, it’s not about fancy destinations or long vacations it’s just about getting away for a bit, with the people you care about, and being present. That’s what this trip was for us.
